How I Fixed My Failed Marker Drawing
Due to a lack of proper materials and artist tools, I wasn’t able to create smooth gradients or achieve the right colors.
So I prepared a few tubes of acrylic paint, a piece of wood, and a kitchen sponge.
Then I mixed colors to get new shades such as light blue, purple, orange, and others. I also used pure colors like yellow and red.
I used a kitchen sponge to create a smooth gradient in the sky and applied paint to the snowy hills. One layer wasn’t enough to cover the marker strokes, so I added several more layers.
I used a more saturated blue to create a smooth gradient on the hills.
Next, I mixed a darker purple color using red and dark blue paint.
With that done, I used an artist sponge to paint a dark purple cloud.
After that, I mixed a light purple shade.
At this point, I added light purple highlights to the cloud.
I blurred and smoothed out these spots.
Next, I repeated the process — once again adding light blue highlights and blending them in.
In the following step, I created a muted purple tone.
Then I tried painting more clouds, but they didn’t look good.
So I decided to try a different tool — I used the brush you can see in the photo.
I then painted stretched clouds using yellow, white, and orange.
In the next step, I painted outlines with blue paint.
Finally, I refined the outlines, added highlights, and drew straight lines to emphasize the clouds and I improved trees. One of the problems I faced was the paper bending due to moisture.
